Andrew Lombara is not only a dedicated trader but also an avid sports enthusiast and a passionate traveler. Since childhood, Andrew Lombara has been driven and passionate about whatever he does. One of his earliest memories takes us back to his hometown of Boston, where he spent his childhood. It’s a simple yet cherished memory of playing with his brothers, all wrestling over a ball. Those were the days of laughter and friendly competition, a reminder of the strong bonds they shared as siblings, and a nod to the good times, zeal, and spirit.
During his high school years, Andrew‘s passion for sports ignited when he joined the football team. His natural talent shone brightly as he consistently excelled in each game, earning him recognition among his peers. However, Andrew Lombara’s athletic prowess extended beyond the football field. He found equal enjoyment and proficiency in sports like hockey, basketball, and baseball. Despite his proficiency in these varied sports, football held a special place in his heart, remaining a steadfast interest that continued to burn brightly throughout his journey into college. This unwavering commitment to football reflects Andrew’s enduring dedication to the game that first captured his heart in high school.
While attending Harvard, Andrew Lombara majored in government and spent his free time playing on his Ivy League’s football team for multiple years. This same drive and determination came in handy when he met a Harvard alum who showed him the ropes of trading. The rush and excitement on the trading floor greatly appealed to Andrew’s personality type. In the competitive realm of bond trading, Andrew emerged as a formidable presence, known for his astute decision-making and remarkable proficiency. Just as he had become a key player on the football team, he became a force to be reckoned with in the trading arena, demonstrating an innate ability to navigate complex financial landscapes with finesse and determination.
Andrew held a position at Merrill Lynch, where he achieved the remarkable feat of consistently securing the top position for Merrill Lynch as the leading strips dealer, a recognition bestowed by Institutional Investor magazine throughout his tenure. He is still very proud of the fact. Prior to his position at Merrill Lynch, Andrew worked at Prudential Securities, where he was quickly promoted to head trader of the zero-coupon bond desk. He remained there as a managing director until HSBC coaxed him to head a 60-person team.
Andrew’s last position before retirement was with HSBC Bank USA, where he held the position of head of government bond training. Choosing this career path was a natural fit for him, as his deep-seated passion for trading had always burned brightly.
Originally from Boston, Andrew Lombara now calls New York State his home. Even though he is currently retired, Andrew Lombara still finds ways to make life an exciting adventure. Working out and running are two activities that are especially important to him. In addition to playing sports, however, Andrew is also an avid spectator. He is unwaveringly loyal to his hometown Boston teams – the Red Sox, the Celtics, the Patriots, and the Bruins.
Having extra leisure time now, he likes spending it with his family and staying active. They have fun going to the beach and doing exciting things together. Cooking as a family is also something they enjoy, creating tasty meals while bonding with one another.
