Spring is right around the corner. A time of out with the old and in with the new. This concept applies to more than just material things. Spring’s a great time to reevaluate fitness approaches. The following tips can help energize and reorganize any routine.

Start with The Basics

Clothing makes the man, but with fitness, this thinking sometimes gets left behind. Spring is the perfect time to look at attire and spruce up what has been neglected over the long winter months. Check shoes for wear and tear. Toss shabby sportswear. An updated wardrobe can pump up attitudes.

Get Outside

Taking fitness out into the sun and warmth of spring can give a needed boost after a long winter indoors. Get out of the gym and onto the golf course or gather some friends for kickball or ultimate Frisbee. Compete in a color run. There are lots of activities to jazz up routines.

Bump up the Brawn

Add in weight training to get that perfect beach bod. Start simple with dumbbell rows and squats. Strap on some wrist and ankle weights to make household chores more beneficial. Work up to more intricate routines with heavier weights.

Modify Methods

Simple changes can produce significant results. Choose a new preset on a machine or add new intervals to routines—alternate intense workouts with mild ones. Keeping things changed up will keep routines challenging and fun.

Reform the Roster

Sweep monotony out the door by changing up timetables. Typically workout in the mornings? Unload the day’s stress by moving to evening hours. Switch days of the week and lengths of sessions. Being practical with changes can ensure success.

Try Something New

Spring brings new growth, and this idea is a great one to spill into fitness routines. It’s a great time to try out a spin or Zumba class. Get outdoors for a swim class or find a walking group. There is a world of exercise activities out there. Don’t be afraid to try some.

Partner Up

Going solo can be tedious. Bringing a partner into routines brings in new energy and can help with accountability. Try and find someone on the same schedule and workout level to keep motivation high.
